Social media marketing: it’s the wild, ever-changing corner of the internet where small business owners simultaneously thrive, survive, and sometimes are just trying to keep their noses above the water.

If you’ve ever wondered whether your Instagram captions need a sprinkle of SEO, if you really have to be everywhere at once, or how to squeeze more juice out of your blog posts, you’re in the right place. At Enji, we believe marketing should be manageable, approachable, and dare we say—fun. So today, let’s dive into the 11 questions about social media I get asked the most to help you make the most of your efforts, without burning out.

Here are the social media questions we’ll answer:

  • Now that Google might index Instagram content, what do I need to do?
  • What’s the best way to repurpose blog content on social media?
  • What social media platforms should I be marketing my small business on?
  • What are the best times to post on social media?
  • How do I create a social media strategy?
  • Should I run social media ads?
  • Does using a social media scheduler hurt my reach?
  • How can I get more followers on Instagram and TikTok?
  • What are the best social media schedulers for small businesses?
  • What social media metrics should I be looking at and tracking?
  • How do I figure out what to post when I feel like I’ve said it all?

Now that Google might index Instagram content, what do I need to do?

In case you haven’t heard, Google might start indexing Instagram content. What does that mean for you? It’s time to get intentional with your Instagram game. Gone are the days of tossing up a photo with a “meh” caption and calling it a day. Now, every caption is an opportunity for discovery—not just by your followers, but by people searching on Google.

Start weaving your SEO keywords into both your Instagram captions and any text you overlay on videos or images. This isn’t about stuffing keywords awkwardly; it’s about naturally integrating the terms your audience is searching for. And if you’ve already done keyword research for your blog, repurposing that content on Instagram is a no-brainer. You’ll be re-using work you’ve already done, making your content work double-time.

Bottom line: You don’t need to overhaul your Instagram strategy. Just be purposeful and get more mileage out of every post.

What’s the best way to repurpose blog content on social media?

Repurposing blog content is like giving your best ideas a second (and third, and fourth) life. And there are two main ways to do this: promotion and repurposing.

Promotion is straightforward—let your audience know you’ve got a fresh blog post and encourage them to check it out. Repurposing is where the magic happens. Take your blog introduction and use it as a caption. Break down your blog’s main points into a mini-listicle for a carousel post. Or, pull a compelling quote and turn it into an eye-catching graphic. In the end, it’s about turning something you already created into something else you can use.

Want to repurpose your blogs super quick? Enji’s AI Copywriter can help you repurpose your blogs into ready-to-go captions for your favorite platforms. Just pick your platforms, select how many captions you need, et voilà! Your blog is now a social media content.

What social media platforms should I be marketing my small business on?

Let’s start with this: you do NOT need to be on every single social media platform. What social media platforms do you need to be on? The ones where your potential clients and customers already hang out. If your audience is scrolling Instagram but never touches Twitter (or X, or whatever it’s called this week), focus your energy accordingly.

Take a moment to define your customer personas and figure out where they spend their time online. That’s where you want to be. And remember, it’s about quality, not quantity—better to do a few platforms well than spread yourself too thin.

What are the best times to post on social media?

You’ve probably searched for the “perfect” time to post. But here’s the truth: unless you’re posting at 2:30am (when everyone’s dreaming about brunch), there really isn’t a bad time. Good content finds its audience.

If you want to post at “the best time”, use your platform’s insights to see when your audience is most active. Usually, you’ll see a slight dip on weekends and outside working hours, but don’t overthink it. Consistency and quality matter more than obsessing over the clock.

How do I create a social media strategy?

“Strategy” sounds intimidating, but it really just means having a plan. And your social media strategy should include your goals (what you want to achieve), customer personas (who you’re trying to reach), platforms (where you’ll show up), and tasks (what you’ll do).

At Enji, we take a strategy-first approach to marketing because it keeps you focused and prevents you from marketing in every direction at once. Our tools help you create both a marketing and social media strategy, making your marketing efforts more focused, effective, and less overwhelming.

Should I run social media ads?

Social media ads can feel like a magic shortcut to sales, but the reality is a bit messier. Sure, setting up an ad is easy—but making it work takes experimentation, budget, and a supporting cast of landing pages and email sequences.

But if you’ve got the budget to experiment with and you’re in a business that thrives on (or needs) a volume of bookings or sales, ads might be worth a shot. Otherwise, focus on organic content and revisit ads when you’re ready to invest more time and money.

Does using a social media scheduler hurt my reach?

This is one of the internet rumors that just won’t go away. As someone who has built a social media scheduler, I can tell you there are a lot of hoops anyone who wants to build a scheduler needs to jump through. And each social media platform has its own hoops. Those hoops are the requirements around how things get coded, and when you’re building things you have to submit prototypes to get approval. Sometimes they say you’re good to go right out the gate and other times they say, “denied go change this.”

What I mean is any legitimate social media scheduler has to get approved by Meta, by TikTok, by Pinterest, etc. before they can ever make the tools public. Now, I know some people have tried using a scheduler and might say, “I used one and all my numbers went way down.” It’s not that that doesn’t or can’t happen. But if you got a little lazy with your content. Or didn’t go into the app to engage after it posted. Or the algorithm just changed. Yeah, maybe your numbers went down. But in the end, good content is good content and we are all at the mercy of algorithms we don’t completely understand. And if a social media scheduler helps you show up and stay visible, that upside is worth a lot.

How can I get more followers on Instagram and TikTok?

Since I just talked about the algorithms being something none of us completely understand, I’ll mention some best practices but also dive into my honest advice. So first, the best practice for creating social media content that helps you get more followers (as of 2025):

• Focus on short-form video content
• If you’re going to post images or graphics, make it a carousel
• Incorporate trending audio when you can
• Use SEO keywords in your captions
• Tag locations when it makes sense
• Create collaboration content

Okay, now that that’s been said, here’s the other thing I want you to focus on—creating content that actually speaks to the people you’re trying to reach. Not content that you necessarily enjoy. Not content that is the easiest to create. Content that is actually saying something to your ideal follower. And that means you need to do a little work to really get to know them, the problems they are trying to solve, and what might motivate them to take an action.

What are the Best Social Media Schedulers for Small Businesses?

There are a lot of social media schedulers out there, and in the end, you should pick the one that helps you get the job done. And since I talk to a lot of small business owners every week, here is a quick round up of the best social media schedulers they are using (and for you to choose from):

  • Enji
  • Later
  • Planoly
  • Tailwind
  • Metricool

What social media metrics should I be looking at and tracking?

All your social media hustle should be moving the needle in three areas. The first helping you get discovered by more people. The second getting them to know, like, and trust you. The last thing is getting them to buy from or book you. (Side note: this is basically your marketing funnel.) So when you want to know if your social media is actually helping you do those things, here is a short list of some of the metrics that will help you see that:

• Impressions
• Reach
• Views
• Engagement rate
• Link taps

Enji makes it easy to track your social media metrics with our KPI (key performance indicator) dashboard that has direct integrations to the social media platforms! That way, you know what’s working and what needs a tweak.

What to Post When You Feel Like You’ve Said It All

Feeling tapped out? You’re not alone. Try going deeper on topics you’ve already covered instead of searching for brand-new ideas. Repackage your best-performing posts with a fresh spin. And don’t forget to mine your audience’s questions—your DMs, emails, and comments are a goldmine for content ideas. Turn FAQs into posts or dive deeper into individual questions for unique content.
